Where were you a few months ago After having this vehicle jacked up on stands. I have been liking the height she is at and wish I could get a lift kit now.

New news, I got the passenger side off. The skipped even trying the bolt method or any other method for that matter. Been in way to much pain laterly to really battle with car parts. So i just took the knuckle off with everything attached. The only issue I had was the rust on the lower ball joint. Took a few trys with the pickle fork to get it off but it is off. Also I go the small pc of lower ball joint from the driver side out the drive knuckle as well.

I will look into shocks, but that will be a later project, since the shocks don't seem to be causing me any trouble. Wish I had the funds to do a nice over haul but hey. Another day another dollar.

Broken Ball Joints

I had this done in two days and this last weekend i put on my rear 2" lvling kit on my rear Springs - So sorry you are having so much trouble- the passengers side was really easy where as the drivers side was not as easy. My next project is to opt for the powered retractable running boards and the performance computer chip

I wish my sweety was that easy, seating for a little over a year has done a number on her I guess. Even down to getting the brakes off was a lil work. I guess that's what I get. Going to be up front, there have been times I just thought about parting her our or just flat out junking her, but I have so much love for it. Once she becomes the topic of heated discussions in my house hold she'll have to go. but true.

i must have missed the "been sitting for a year" part.i would'nt have that much patience i would already had the cutting torch out and buying new hubs.LOL.but the fact is on mine i never did take them off anyways -i took off everything else undid the torque bar from the back and since i was putting new brake lines in and pulled the lower arm completely off the frame and put them in.and i did have to torque the lower ball joints at an odd angle but i gave it one good whack with a hammer and it fell into the hub assembly.bolted the lower arms back in .. i hope she gets up and running soon.

Well finally got my hubs off. Got someone with an air hammer. Now I am just waiting for my new hubs to come in from UPS and get these Tie rods out of the way. The darn inner-tie rod is giving me more trouble, but will take care of that by end of day today. Now I am looking into rotors again and still not sure what to get. The stock looking ones or the cross drilled. There is a decent set on Ebay that I was thinking about getting. Anyway, took pictures of what the ball joints look like more closely and will post them later.

I hear you. I'm taking my old one in for rust prevention modification therapy in a couple of weeks to save the box and the underside top of the frame. Mama won't let me part with it as it is set up for heavy hauling and she does like to load it up. Meanwhile I enjoy my new one, and she beats it out of the old girl ever chance she gets. Won't even drive the new one yet. Ahem is ok by me. LOL

Well finally got the ball joints all in and the Tie rod ends all off. Rented a $10 puller from Autozone. Also found the wheel seal/axle output seal that goes to the steering knuckle. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ition-4wd.html

Not many places seem to have this part. So not sure if I want trust some other company if it's not widely being sold by other companies. Now, to get some front breaks.

wow, rust can really do a lot of damage to an other wise good part. Well an update on this. I was trying to type up everything I did and what tools I used. Well thought I saved everything on my external hard drive before I tried to image my laptop. Well I didn't so it's gone :^(. Anyway, she drives straight and good. But I don't have the proper "toe-in" so she will be getting an alignment in a week or so. Right now been focusing on moving and two classes that start this week and my ever so large family gets out of school soon. The van as been the major form of transportation.

Thanks all for helping me get through the rust and other . Next project is AC and checking out trailer arms.

I am so happy for you..... did it raise the front end up i know mine did thats why i opted for the 2" lift kit from Daystar i used the O'reilys rent program and rented the spring compresson bolts and a electric torque wrench and replaced the shocks as well but i had the whole thing done in 4 hrs time.i didnt have the air bag ride installed i heard these things is alot of work to maintain or else i would have went that route...
but thanks for your post..

Yes, it raised it a lil but not by much. She rides so much better. Just from driving around in certain neighborhoods with Fords or vehicles with failed air bags or air bags that are not working properly. I pass on that, the ride maybe nice, but when they fail that has to be fun to replace them.

Update: Not happy (issue is back)

Ok, now my sweety has bout 180,120 miles and the shacking is back. I've checked the ball joints for free play and they are all good; from what I can tell. My shocks are OG; could that be part of the issue?? I've had a friend that was following me and I asked them does it look like any of my wheels are off. They stated the rear-driver tire appeared to be bouncing more then the other tires. What could this possibly be? I checked the trailer arms uppers and lowers all look ok. Yes, they could stand a changing with the rust build up and all. Other then what I see all is good.

When I am at lower speeds it feels like the truck is going up and down. Almost like I'm driving on a flat tire or something. Every once and a while my ABS light comes on but it doesn't stay on long enough for me to get it read at a dealership or shop.

Basically what I am looking for is what I can do before taking her to the dealer and have them take a once over and a triple over of my wallet.

Go to basics first. Check the tire and wheel for runout. Check the wheel and tire for bounce. They can tell on the balancer if wheel and tire are bad. With ABS coming on it tells me the axle is turning at a different rate at times. If wheel ballances are OK look to the shocks or broken spring. Last the drive shaft is out of balance or bent.
