oil capacity for 78 300 six

Hey y'all,
Two out of three manuals that list the crank case oil capacity, calls for 6 quarts. The third manual (Chilton) Ford pickup manual # 26662 calls for 7 quarts. Who's correct? Could this be a misprint?

My '79 300 takes 6 quarts, including the filter. This is a 2WD F100 with automatic transmission.

My '79 takes six as well. It would take 7 if I overfilled it, if that makes you feel any better.

NO,NO don't over fill it! LOL. I bought my oil in gallon jugs but, next time I change it, I'm going to use quarts just to make it easy. That is unless I have the wrong dip stick! But no kidding I think I can remember having a Ford truck in past years that held 7 quarts.

Yes, I was only kidding. While I don't think one quart over full would hurt it, it's still not a good idea to do that.

I still buy the gallon jugs, I just pour in one gallon then pour 2 quarts into the empty jug. no guessing and its cheaper.
