V10 Won't start
One day i had my 2000 F-350 v10 out in the woods and i attempted to get through a huge puddle, i got stuck in about 3 1/2 feet and when i got out the overdrive light was flashing and it stopped shifting into either over drive or third and fourth gears. So then, a few weeks later (I barely drove the truck because of the tranny issue and i never took it over 35 when i did take it out) the alternator blew and the truck would no longer start even after replacing it. i found a rusty ground and after cleaning it up i was able to start the vehicle again. the starter went after being replaced once already and i got another and the vehicle started right up. when i did have the truck going the rpm's would be all over the place and only after letting it warm up for a while would the truck stay running without giving it gas. So then i was driving it to bring it to a garage so i would have a good place to check it out and it shut down in the middle of the road. i couldnt get it to start even with a jump and when i turn the key it just clicks. i brought it to a mechanic and he told me the motor was seized but then i put a fresh battery in and the engine turned, but didnt start, therefore i don't believe it to be seized. All the mechanic did was put a ratchet to the crank and couldn't turn it, however when the truck was running perfectly i couldn't move the crank by hand either. Another Theory is that something broke off in the tranny and its not allowing the motor to turn over and start. Anyone that could help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

ok there is a number of reasons for the blinking O/D light.. first check all your fuses under the hood .. make sure the trans fuse is good.. if so you will need to take the truck into a transmission shop. problems range from a bad torque converter ( 80% of the time ) to bad solenoids or some other mechanical problem that will trip this light,, as for your not starting.. try the IAC sensor and also the Cam position sensor.

if you can turn the AC pulley by hand then no its not seized .. now put the belt back on with the AC off.. if it starts then turn the AC on and se what happens. with all the intermittent starting and not starting.. id lean more towards you have a bad connection or a bad starter solenoid located on the passenger side fender

something you may also try.next time it wont start... hold your shift lever in park with firm pressure and try to start it.. if it starts move to neutral .. if it starts again.. you may have a bad neutral safety switch.. located on shift linkage on the tranny.. if that gets out of alignment ( getting stuck in mud and something hit it) it will cause what your describing

but reading back to your original post.. i dont know if your truck is lifted .. if not you need to pull the tranny pan and change fluid , you most likely have water in the fluid if your stock height and were in 3 1/2 ft of water. and disconnect all tranny plugs.. get a can of electrical cleaner and spray in them then reconnect..

Yeah it wa all messed up, I swapped in an a/c bypass pulley, starts right up now, thankyou fine sir, I'm probably gonna drain the trannypan and see where that takes me, replace it see how all my connections are doing, the fluid is brownish but smells normal so I don't think Its fried, could certainly be a connection and water that got in there
