That one you posted is for a smallblock and the 300-6.
Thanks for the link though.
its also a 2wd trans.

between adding OD and the direct drive of a manual, you will without a doubt gain 1-2 mpg. and, thats 10-20% increase from what youre getting (assuming youre getting 10 mpg). so thats 10-20% of your fuel cost that stays in your pocket.

in addition, the overhaul cost of the auto is huge. with that bein said, ya gotta take into consideration the fact that it wont last forever. . .so youll ultimately save a lot of money by not having to rebuild an auto. the ZF is an awesome trans. they have their particular quirks, but none of them are anything to keep ya from buyin one.

where the hell are you located? 5 speed f350's are GOLD. . .i'd love to get my hands on one of those.

I had a single wheel, 4x4, F350, crewcab, with 350 gears and ZF5-47. Freakin awesome truck. I put the complete banks headers and y and 4" exhaust. OMG. WOW. I loved that truck. Wish I kept it now. But it funded another project when it left so I suppose... I'll cry later about it.

Where we're you when I was trying to unload it. GeeWhiz.

i always keep my eye out for clean f350's like that. 5 speed of course. . .if i saw a clean ext cab 5 spd 460 truck tomorrow that was reasonably priced (id expect to pay a pretty penny for a clean one) id prob buy it. for as long as i need a truck ill have a diesel for my daily driver, but im always on the lookout for a good cruiser, and thats one of the best ones ever. . .i'd have to build the motor of course.

I have four parts trucks with zf5's, one diesel three 351. Two are running driving all with papers. Never paid more than $200 for a parts truck around here, have gotten many for free. You guys are getting hosed! these trucks are old, mostly undesirable, and cheap.

I see good driver trucks for less than some of you guys pay for a tranny! Its crazy. I wouldnt pay $800 for a tranny to put in a $1000 truck unless I really really really liked it.

I bought my 460 4x4 Zf-42 for $100... with the crossmember, Tranny mount, 1356 TC, a set of pedals and both driveshafts.
In my carbureted truck it hasn't made much difference in around town driving,(where I never get into 5th) but it has made a HUGE difference in highway and mixed driving.
I have 4.10's and I now see 12mpg highway at 75 or so.
The overdrive is a huge help there.

I have been looking for the 2wd 460 zf5. It looks like I could also go with a 4wd trans and install the brake system on the back of it. Can anyone confirm this. Is the brake system more expensive?

Yes, the drum type brake, I saw some pics somewhere, but did not realize it was an industrial application.

(industrial) as in school bus, cutaway van, motorhome chassis, F450 & up, ect...
Not that uncommon, but very pricy new assembly.

That's a terrible thing to say. They can't go to scrap. It took me 2 months to get a new rebuilt unit because my core was unusable.
If I were closer I'd give you scrap price for it just to sit in my corner.
