Parts questions...Brake rotors, calipers, etc.
Well, I finally have almost all my electrical gremlins taken care of, so getting ready to place an order for some parts for my 76 f100 2wd, and thought I would get some input, next on my list of things that needs done is brakes.
The passenger side rotor has a nasty gouge that would never machine out, so I'm just going to replace it, and figure I may as well do both sides, so the question is, should I replace the calipers as well since I'm going to be under there or just leave well enough alone and only do the rotors?
On that topic, has anyone used the slotted/cross-drilled rotors, they LOOK nice, but is it worth the extra $, the wheels I plan on putting on you'll never see them.
Lastly, what incidentals should I plan on needing? I have done the discs on newer vehicles, but not the older setup like this, are there any major differences. I noticed this truck has banjo style fittings on the brakes, Is that par for the course, or has that been done by the previous owner.

Personally, I would replace the calipers/pads/hoses while in there. IIRC, the calipers were like $25/ea, so def cheap insurance. The brakes on these trucks are about as basic/simple as you can get.
As for slotted/cross drilled, I've heard good and bad. My personal opinion, stock rotors are just fine unless you start getting crazy on lift or power.

the hoses look new, and appear to be in really good shape, i.e., they aren't covered in rust like the rest of the stuff under there.
I'm looking at the loaded caliper setup from rock auto, anyone order any of those? or have an opinion on them, these are the ones I am thinking about.
