Hi,
Has anyone ever seen a seal holder such as this?



This came off the rear of an 8RT engine that I disassembled and now I can't remember how it goes back on.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have no idea what a 8RT engine is but if you look at your lower picture there are shiny circles around the holes. Those are from the bolts that attached it so that would go to the outside. Not sure if that helps but I figured I would throw out an answer.

I figured that they were bolt holes, but I can't figure out what it bolts to. Maybe someone else has seen one?

BTW - 8RT is a flathead V8 from a truck.

Thanks for the info. My first car was a 1953 Ford flathead convertible. Bought in when I was 15 for 65 bucks. (Ah!!!! The good ole days) I never tore it down though. It almost looks like a cover for a bell housing. That would be too simple. Good luck on finding where it goes.

Can you tell I'm bored this afternoon? Here is yoru part. It's called a "Ford Pickup Truck Flywheel Housing Cover Seal - Metal - V8". Apparently it bolts onto the the bell housing. Here's a site that actually sells it.

I guess the reason I couldn't figure it out is because I didn't have a bellhousing with that engine. I was thinking it was some type of seal between the oil pan and crankshaft.
