Wont start after new fuel pump
my buddy has a 97 f150 4.6 auto 4x4 that hes having some problems with and i told him i would check online to see if i can find anything out for him.
the fuel pump recently went out of his truck. it didnt really go out but he was only making like 26psi. the truck would turn over but it would never start unless he sprayed it with some ether and then it would only run for a little bit. so hes replaced the fuel pump and the fuel pressure regulator. still the same thing. it will turn over but it wont start. he checked his plugs and hes getting spark but the plugs are bone dry so he must not be getting any fuel. hes tried depressuring the system by holding in the pin and turning it over a few times.
what else could it be? vacuum locked maybe? injectors? are the fuel pressure regulators adjustable so he could maybe try turning it up a bit?

Check the fuel pressure again with a gage so you know what your working with.
Pressing the port pin dosen't tell you much.
Put the gage on and cycle the ignition switch to run only, several times for what should result in normal fuel pressure of 35 to 40 psi.
If it's still low, then voltage at the pump should be checked for a feed issue through the relay and crash sensor if you got the same result as before the pump replacement.
Good luck..
