feels like power is gone

Guys let me know if this sounds familiar.

Driving my truck it feels like it has no power ,like I have to really step on it almost like its sliding in a gear if you know that feeling. I just got a new trans so that I dont think thats it.could the rear be slipping?

also my exhaust is not complete so some of the high rpm noise might be from that

Is the trans broke in? You need to break in the trans before you dog it.

That could exactly be your problem. The O2 sensor decides the air fuel mixture, b/c it tells the computer weather the engine is running lean or rich. The cat and air pollution tube, can hurt you on power too. If the cat is clogged, or if the tube is sucking in raw air.

Also you should have a EEC-IV computer, this is how you test.

now if I replace my o2 sensor with out doing the rest of the exhaust work would that help a little? I can not afford the cat and all right now. it does smell like its running rich like I can smell gas standing next to it

Yes it will help, as long as the exhaust is hooked up. Are you in a state that test emissions? If not, I would just cut the cat off, and weld a pipe in its place.

My state doesn't test, so I cut the cat off mine, got rid of the smog, and the EGR is gone.

ok. Is the tube for the EGR from the cat just hanging there? If it is you need to pinch and crimp it. Cuz every time the EGR opens (if that tube it just hanging there) its sucking in raw air. Which is bad for your motor and will make the engine run lean.
