I was told awhile back that a 94.5 computer wont be able to use a chip like the 95 and up can use and that you have to order a performance computer. Any truth to that?
As best I can recall there are 3 PCM configurations: 94.5-95, 96-97 49 state models, and 96-97 CA emissions. There are several calibration codes for each.
Ya, my understanding was if it's a powerstroke, it is electronically controlled and you can use a chip on it. The model prior was still a mechanical control.
My 95 had to have a 96 pcm put in to accept the superchip, this is info Prevoius owner told me,as far as flashing I dont know but I can say the old superchip is outdated but WOW! Ive had it in and out many times, the shifting is smoother without but I cant deal with it out,the power is to awesome. When it dies Ill upgrade!!
