Question '97 f350 suspension lift questions

I have a 1997 f350 short cab long bed with a 460 gas engine, and i want to lift it. I really would like to lift it 6" but i cant seem to find a 6" lift for this truck. all i can find is a 4" rough contry lift. will a f250 lift work for this truck? does anyone know of a 6" lift for my truck?? also looking for pictures of a f350 with a 6" lift and 35" tires. i am also a newbie to lifted fords so i was wondering if anyone can help me out and let me know of anything else i will need to buy besides the lift kit (rough country 4" lift).

you should just be able to get high arched leaf springs, or just add more springs front and rear. the F250 lift will have parts for the front end that you wont want, but the rear end would be right. a lift kit should come with everything you need, shocks, springs, ect.
From a quick search, I found that Superlift makes a 4" lift, but on a side note, get a lift thats springs, not lift blocks. You'll get a lot of axle wrap because the block in the rear is already as tall as I'd deem acceptable.
Skyjacker does make a 5-6 inch lift for your truck though. kind of pricey, like 1600 bucks or so. 6" on an one ton is gonna be pretty tall though.

I have the same exact truck as you except a 96. I have 8" lift springs made by Skyjacker. I find it hard to believe that you cant find a 6" spring for your truck. I will post pics of my truck tommorow, I run 35" tires in winter and 39.5's in summer.

no no no. you cannot use the F250 lift. the only parts that would work would be the rear end parts. you need to get a lift for an F350. you apparently arent searching very hard.

i have found many lifts for a 350 but i dont know if i really want to add another block to the rear... that is all i am finding is 4" lifts with rear blocks. if you could possibly point me in the right direction of someone who sells a 4 or 6" spring lift. or am i wrong by saying that adding more blocks in the rear is a little iffy? remember im a newbie with lifts. HELP!!!

also if anyone has a picture of a truck with a 4" susp lift and 3" body on 35's please post. i really would like to see a picture of one.

Item #F860MKS-N / Skyjacker Suspensions

That's gonna be what you're looking for. That's the tallest and most expensive lift that Skyjacker makes. No rear blocks added, all springs.

what are peoples opinions about adding more blocks to the rear of a f350? is it too much? anyone have any .02 cents on the subject? also i was wondering about steering stabilizer? it pops up as an optional part on rough country's site on the 4" lift page. should i go with a single stabilizer? or spend the money and get the dual? or none at all? any experence with these? please fill me in.

Don't add any more blocks to the back of a 1 ton. It's got a tall enough block as it is. I have a steering stabilizer on my truck and it keeps the steering smooth when I run 35s. I would go with a single if you plan to run anything 35" or under, and double if you run anything bigger.

So what is your goal? To get your truck high or to get 35s on? If you want to just get the tires on you can do that without a lift. I did. There are pics in my albums and I have a build thread for it too if you do a search. Trim or shim the front bumper and get wheels with a 4" backspacing. 35s will go right on and work great. 6" with just 35s is going to be very very high. Now some folks like that "walking on stilts" look but, unless you're just mud bogging, it's not very practical and looks like poop IMO. With a 6" lift you should be looking at running 40s+.

For the lift issue, have you researched a Shackle Reversal Kit? Look at Sky manufacturing. They have kits that will get you up in the air 3 or 5 inches using stock springs and improve the ride at it. Plus you can use lift springs for an even higher lift.

For the rear use a lift spring high enough to COMPLETELY eliminate the blocks. If you're doing any real 4 wheelin' or you're putting down a good bit of torque on the street you'll can have a problem with wheel hope even with stock blocks. Oh and if you can't find rear lift springs for our truck, though I can't imagine why, you can also use SuperDuty springs. You have to enlarge the bolt hole in the front spring mount but I've been told that they'll fit.

my goal is get the truck higher up in the air. not sky high i was just looking into a maximum of a 6" lift with 35's.

how complicated is it to install front and rear schackle revarsal kit? also on the sky manufacturing site it says you do not reinstall the stock sway bar. is that something that is normal with that kind of lift?

it also says something about an "adjustable pan hard bar" no clue what that is... any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can clear 38's with 6". I had some 3" springs made by national spring and eaisily cleard a 35. You dont need an adjustable panhard/track bar (but they are available from Pro Comp and Skyjacker ect.) just flip the bar over to the top

im sure im being a royal pain in the ***, but im just trying to figure out the best/most cost effective lift. im still thinking about the rough country 4" but still very skeptical about adding more blocks. what if i were to just do an add a leaf kit? would i be able to get 4" out of a AAL kit? front and rear? thanks guys i appreciate your patience.

IMO, a shackle flip in the back is the easiest and most cost effective for the rear. I did it in my 94 with the same setup. I'm clearing 37's for $16 in the rear and have never had any trouble with it. All it takes is cutting off the rivets for the shackle mount, cutting out the bottom, bracing the shackle back up for the lost stock, and installing the shackle upside down through the mount, then bolt it back on.
