Low oil pressure

Hi I have a 1992 f150 5.8. Me and my dad took the engine out of my pickup two years ago and redid it. Durring the first year or so I had great oil pressur over half. Then one day I was driving and my oil pressure went down to about a quarter of the way on the guage. Now once in a while it the guage goes to above half or else it normally runs about a quarter way on the guage. And every now and then it will slowly start going up and down. I was wondering if it could be the sending unit or even the guage?

Thanks, Casey

Yes it could, check with a multimeter. And the sender is an idiot light sender that ford wired to a gauge. You might want to consider the real oil pressure mod.
