1987 F250 valuation ???

Looking for some quick knowledgeable feedback please.

I have an opportunity to pick up a 1987 F250 extended cab 2wd 8' bed Lariat. It has a 351/auto loaded with a/c, pw, pl, tilt, cruise, cassette etc. Everything works, interior mint, no rust thru, original green/tan 2 tone. Lots of hood surface rust and a little surface rust throughout. has 171k on it and appears to be well maintained. no receiver hitch so I dont think it was ever a tow mule.
I don't NEED the truck but it seems to be really nice as a back up or flipper.
I can get it for $1000.00.
If I cleaned up the surface rust and painted it (can do it myself)... do you think I might be able to get 2200 or so out of it?
Remember its 2 wd but super nice and clean other than the surface rust and paint.
Your opinions are appreciated.

I used to build houses but then the Goldman Sacks thought it a good idea to securitize a bunch of mortgages written to part time minimum wage earners and resell them as triple A bonds.

Im willing to bet you could get 2 grand or so out of it if you repainted it and made it look nice. of course ask 2200 so theres some haggle room.

Thanks Davey. I've never had a Ford truck from this gen although I've had a bunch of others. 1800 or 2k would make it worth my time. Who knows? just might like it enough to keep.

you may want to sell it but I think once you drive it, the simplicity of it and being able to work on it with out worry will make you want to keep it, but yes I agree with the above, ask the $2200 to leave some negotiating room

I think $2k is a reasonable expectation, since the rest of the truck is solid. If it were me, I'd flip it, as opposed to having another vehicle to maintain. (looks like you have quite a few!)

Theres more than in my sig. Cars and trucks are my crack. Really, though, I'm a builder/rehabber and I do use them. The F SuperDuty (450) im my sig is our boom truck. If I kept it the 87 would keep a few miles off my 08.

At any rate, for $1k I think it's a very fair deal. There's not too many of these older trucks around that aren't totally clapped out for that price. If you get it, post pics, please!
