Thanks! Just had my 1st oil change completed last night and had them perform the TSB flash update. So far everything seems great...maybe it's me but I feel like the engine runs much more smoothly...idle is better....still gobs of power...no notice of the "pa-choo", "pa-choo" cycling.

I wonder if they'll do a reflash on any '11 EB motor during service, or maybe do it as a "recall" of sorts? I haven't noticed this on mine, but I only have 3900 miles so far.

Side note, anybody know if the wastegates are electric on these and whether they are internal or external?

@Savage...you have pics of your boost gauge install? What vac line did you tap for it? I'd love to install one in my truck.

I just drove from the dealership after the re-flash. Big difference. Motor is much smoother. Back to enjoying my truck.

I had mine done on Thursday morning. Over the weekend it has started the miss/waste gate boost dump again. Not as bad but it is there again.
It was completely gone at first and MPG was up to where it should be.
MPG has started to drop again as well.

I don't think it is fixed at least on mine.

After putting some miles on mine it has started doing it again to a lesser degree. I can kind of control it somewhat by keeping my foot in the throttle but that kind of defeats one of the reason I bought an Eco-Boost which is the mileage. It was a step in the right direction Ford but there is still more work to be done to get this resolved.

I'm going in next week for the re-flash. How is it working out for those that had it done?

Did not do the re-flash. It had more to do with 5 gear shudder and tranny reprogramming than the turbo dumping. I'm happy with my present shift stategy and do not have the shudder. Shop manager suggested I wait awhile until Ford has it sorted out.

Sorry you guys are going through this. Getting ready to buy myself. Do you all wish you had opted for the 5.0?

I use mine for towing 6500 lbs (plus the wind load of a large boat) and needed the low end torque. If I was just buying a truck and did not need to tow anything over 5000 lbs then I would go with the 5.0.

Man, my boat is like towing a box down the road. Maybe I should wait until the 13's are out?

That is why I bought the Ecoboost. Mine was a real load w/ the 2002 5.4. It worked but that is about all I could say. This truck: Set the cruise on 70 on the interstate and let it rip.

They are really close on figuring it out. Mine is doing fine except the fuel economy is up and down. Seems like one day it just wants to run rich. Next time you crank it up - mileage is good again. I can't get 20 at 70+ mph thought (and of course that is when not towing).

No regrets, I still love it. Not down on power or mileage just that pesky noise at times. Rode in a hemi that other day, that darn thing was so loud, both the engine and exhaust. I must be getting old, I rather enjoy the quite ecoboost. I did pull a 11,000 # TT with mine a few miles. I have the 4.10's, it did it, but it would not be my choice for a daily puller for weight over 10K.

I'm beginning to wonder. I got better mileage out of my 2010 5.4 than I'm getting with the Ecoboost.

Sorry I haven't been on this thread in awhile, here are some pics of the gauge. Someone on this site posted about this gauge before and mounting it in the vent. I prefer it up high, and I think it looks decent up there.
