I have the towing package mirrors on my truck and i wouldn't swap them out for anything else. These I bet these are similar in rear view visibility to the oem fords.

Here's my truck with a Pacific Manufacturing kit:

I know it's a 96, but I figured it's close...

I had west coast mirrors on a 66 F250 I used to own. I hated those things-they gave you good visibility to the rear (if you could keep em adjusted) but caused a huge blind spot looking forward to the left and right.

I have some black oem replacements on mine. They seem to woork great just took a while to angle them
Well we all have different taste, and i like mirrors that stick out nice

ah...the semi mirrors...never heard them called west coast mirrors...not sure why but most mirrors like this I only see on semis....where they honestly belong and I would rather keep my power mirrors...

Wow some of you guys don't spend much time on the 67-72 boards I don't guess. Those mirrors are pretty much exclusively called "Western" mirrors by that crowd. The big ones with the extra strut like on the eBay f350 are called "Western" and the smaller ones on the rusty red truck in this thread are called "Western Jr".

You're not driving a lifted truck. You can actually look out the window and see the "smart" car next to your passenger side...some of us can't.

I will say that I'm not a fan of the "Western" style mirrors on a 87-96 though. They just don't look at right, IMHO.

when you need 'em,you really like 'em.
there is a blind spot when sitting at a light/stop sign.i mounted mine far enough back,so that i can just lean forward a bit to see both directions passed them, yet not so far ahead that i couldn't.
it's really nice to simply glance in one and see the world behind you.
iv seen em with factory beds and they look like too much without a camper on.
i think the west coast jr's fit the stock beds much better.

Makes perfect sense to put them on something with wide/over-sized loads or dump beds. But a reg ol' truck with those things would be down right silly.

As for lifted trucks, I have a lifted 08 F350 and I just installed back up cameras in the front, rear and passenger side and wired into my double din headunit.

I put 'em on mine because I regularly tow 8.5' by 40' goosenecks. With those long, wide trailers they really help. I wasn't going for looks

Besides on a regular cab dually, it'd look right.

I can see the mirrors being put on our trucks if hauling long and wide trailers like goose necks that are at least 30' long and the like...

Sure thing. They can rotate and flip to extend out further for towing.

How can you drive with them in, I've tried it with mine and can't see s***.
P.S. Here's a few pics of the factory towing mirrors out, just ignore the front clip.

^Before anyone says anything the stupid blue wipers are coming off.

^See the dent from hitting a whitetail with the speedo pegged.

P.P.S.118" out side to out side.

RJJP, maybe i just don't know any better as atm i can't rotate mine as the previous owner located the cb whips on the shafts of the mirrors. It helps i'm still young enough to be able to crank my head around and check surroundings while driving. haha
