Cranks slow,won't start

Subject truck is '04 6.0 F-350 AT4X4 SRW X cab belongs to my bro. in law. It has had some work done in the past, EGR work I think, and FICM. Truck started and was drove 2-3 miles and cut off cranks slow and won't restart warm, and now cold. New batteries maybe one month and replaced the starter. The AutoXXXX store told him it tested bad. Using the A/E there are no codes to indicate anything wrong, one for # 7 glow plug circuit, one for the key switch-the buzzer works with door open and no key in- and the memory one probably from changing out both batteries. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. I own the old 7.3 and IDI. Not real sure what to look for.

very true, like injector tip or glow plug tip broken off. but you will need to determine if there is a hp oil leak. u need readings for the icp.

I'm wondering if the #7 glow plug circuit code may be telling me something? I have a manual gauge set up for the 7.3 PSD can I hook up on the 6.0 and check while starter cranking? I'm not sure where to look for it. May need a different fitting. I have the on line version of service manuals for 7.3 so I will try a search here for the 6.0 . Thanks for the help.

I would try cranking it w/ the belt off - just to see if it turns over more rapidly. A/C compressor issues have been known to cause the slow cranking.

Wow bismic! I knew that stuff and was having a mental block. This is worth a try, cheap and quick. I have seen such things before. Thanks guys! The cash flow has been dammed upstream for awhile for some of us and you're a great resource.

The A/C compressor seems to be the culprit! The parts guy (?) at the AutoXXXX said starter was bad and sold him the rebuilt one. No one wants to learn their own job. Thanks guys, this is the second tome in 5 years I've seen this one, just can't remember everything.
