Scangauge "EGR Valve Position Measured"

Does this value tell you anything about the condition of your EGR valve?

I inputted it on the Scangauge xgauge, and get a readout usually within the operating range of 0-14...but a few times it spiked up to somewhere in the 80s.

I've been wondering this too... I didn't see that code on their site when I programmed my gauge a while back, but I've been seeing people asking about it on here.

Mine runs consistently from 0 to 5 but I have also seen it go to 80 one time.

Did not get much response on this, so I will try again.

Does the EVM readout tell ANYTHING about the condition/function of the EGR valve?

Wish I could help on your post. I have a delete kit. My ScanGaugeII results wouldn't help much. Most of the guys are probably watching football right now. Give it time, someone will come along with an answer.

there is also a "EGR Desired" and when I am showing both this and the "Measured", it appears that it can be telling you how well the valve is actually meeting the setting command, which might inform if the valve is lagging or failing to open or close or whatever.

Having only my own to compare I don't know what normal should look like. It always eventually measures whatever is desired, but it's not instant and there are times when measured will spike way off what desired is. Makes me think, just from watching it, that it might be getting 'sloppy', being pushed around by the flows rather than holding what it's told to do.

Just an impression, I don't know.

My desire and measured always move together and stay the same. I can't help any more than this.

Sorry for chiming in but do any of you no what the EVD and the ETP on the scangauge shoud be reading at idle? I can not got the EVM to read on truck for some reason. But I am trying to pin point a problem with my truck and this thread caught my attention. My scangauge is showing my EVD to be 11 @Idle and my ETP is -4093 @ldle and it only goes up to -4094 when I rev up the rpms? Sorry for the hijack but i am going crazy trying to figure this thing out!

I'm not sure what all these mean, you guys are seeing the readings. I got these OP values from a Tech. I just hope I separated them correctly. At the bottm you will see how I got them.

Key On, Low Idle, High Idle, Operating Range Measurement, Units Description

EGR EVAL
KOEO=NO LI=NO, HI=NO YES, OP=NO/YES, EGR Evaluated

EGR DC#
KOEO=0 LI=0 - 15, HI=32, OP=0 - 44 PERCENT, EGR Duty Cycle

EGR_F
KOEO= NO FAULT, LI=NO FAULT, HI=NO FAULT, OP=0 - 44 FAULT/NO FAULT EGR Status

EGRVP
KOEO=0.8, LI=0.8 - 1.0, HI=1.3, OP=0.6 - 3.5 VOLT, EGR Valve Position

EGRVPDES
KOEO=0, LI=0, HI=9.72, OP= 0 - 14 PERCENT, EGR Desired

EGR EVAL NO NO NO YES NO/YES EGR Evaluated
EGR DC# 0 0 - 15 32 0 - 44 PERCENT EGR Duty Cycle
EGR_F NO FAULT NO FAULT NO FAULT 0 - 44 FAULT/NO FAULT EGR Status
EGRVP 0.8 0.8 - 1.0 1.3 0.6 - 3.5 VOLT EGR Valve Position
EGRVPDES 0 0 9.72 0 - 14 PERCENT EGR Desired

Hopefully someone with a little more info can chime in here. I see I might have operating values in 2 spots for 2 different Gauges. I Would like to be set straight on this.

these are the ones you want to watch

EGR Valve Position Desired (%)

TXD: 07E02209D2

RXF: 0462050906D2

RXD: 3010

MTH: 00647FFF0000

NAM: EVD

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

EGR Valve Position Measured (%)

TXD: 07E02209FE

RXF: 0462050906FE

RXD: 3010

MTH: 00647FFF0000

NAM: EVM
Note: MEASURED EGR Valve Position, in %, where a low value indicates a closed EGR valve (0 EGR flow), and a high value indicates an open EGR valve.

right now I'm running with the EGR connector disconnected. My '05 has a very early flash and this does not cause a CEL or fan problems. EVD still varies with conditions, but EVM always reads 100.
