Found PCV valve, disconnected! Oil leak?

Hey guys-
I have been researching this site because it seems I have a pretty good oil leak. I was told I was jumping to conclusions when I was thinking to replace the valve cover gaskets so I kept reading and people led me to the PCV VALVE.
Well I found it! And it seems that it WASNT EVEN CONNECTED!!!! Could this be the cause for an oil leak? I felt down the whole fitting and tubing and it seems that it is covered in oil.
I am going to pick up a new one tomorrow- next question- where does this fitting connect? I have tried to get my fat head to the rear of the engine and guess what? NO LUCK, Im assuming this has to be done by feel... any suggestions?

I just took my 5.0 out. PCV is located as described above. Mine had a molded hose that ran from the PCV itself to a hose barb fitting in the upper intake on the driver's side. On your upper intake you'll see a "tree" of vaccum fittings, the large one in the middle will have your brake booster vaccum attached with 3 smaller ones running to various vac actuated solenoids as well as the fuel pressure regulator. 1 runner towards the front of the engine you should see a single fitting w/ hose barb. This is where the PCV attached on my '95 5.0. Hose runs from PCV, around back of intake then towards the front & up to the fitting.

Rather than replace it with a new one you can also take some carb cleaner and clean it out. After cleaning give it a gentle shake and you should here a slight rattle. If it is stopped up it may well have blown out and that could very likely be your oil problem. New ones are cheap I'm just saying try it out before you buy something and it wasn't your problem.

New PCV valve Installed!!!
So I found the PCV valve, not as difficult as some presribe. If you follow the passenger side valve cover to the back you will find the round black grommet that the PCV valve is sitting in. Another easy way to spot it is to look to the right of your transmission fluid dipstick. Simply pull out, pull from the tubing, insert new motorcraft PCV valve and voila! Easy and takes about 5 minutes no tools required.
