Question Real Life MPG?
Those of you that have the new Explorer, what kind of mpg are you actually getting?

I just looked at ours and we have had 20.1 mpg. That is for the entire 17,800 miles we have put on the 2011 Explorer V-6 4WD.

I'm getting around 16, wife drives very short trips around town. But when we are on longer drives instant MPG's are around 19-21 for city. Have not done any highway yet but going to tonight, going to camper show in Novi.

I have the '11 with a V6. Getting 16.5 in town and 20.2 on highway. I do have a heavy foot, normally run 75 or so on the highway.

Initial mpg
Just 300 miles on my 2012 Explorer XLT 4wd, 6cyl., 18.5 mpg 1 st tank fill up all around town driving. I'm happy, will only get better!

well just drove from Detroit to Chicago and only got 19.1 MPG for the trip. Not as good as I was expecting. But we did have 6 people and 5 full suit cases full of cloths for a 11 day vacation. Maybe the weight had something to do with it. There was no wind and no traffic since I left at 1:00 am. Was hoping for around 22.

We just got 2012 Explorer Limited, FWD, with EB and wife is averaging 21 in mostly short in town type runs.

I noticed when I drive it that if you keep the rpms below 2k, roughly under 65mph, the instant reading jumps considerably to show 26mpg.

We have had it for about two weeks now. 700 miles so far.

Now 2,500 miles on my 2012 XLT 6 cyl. , 4wd, consistent 18.5 around town and
Just ran Detroit to Minneapolis last week. 1,350 miles 22.5 mpg going and 23.5 mpg coming home. Thats driving 72 mph. Longer I have it the better the mileage! What a great road car, really impressed with the great ride and quite interior.

My moms 2011 AWD Limited V6 has about 9500 miles on it now, and she usually gets around 16-17 city and 21-22 highway. She also drives very fast, and not very easy. I can usually get city upto 18 or so because i am so used to driving my 5.4 slow for MPG
