carrier bearing repaced
#16
Hello all.
Been researching vibration issues on my 2003 250 super duty V10 2WD
I checked the drive shaft today. Ujoints all seem tight, didnt see any missing shaft weights. When I pushed on the shaft at the carrier bearing it moved a lot easier than I thought it should. Cant really see the bearing, only the rubber bushing, but the bushing looks dry rotted. My question is how freely should that bushing at the carrier bearing allow the shaft to move.
All replys appreciated.

I'm having a similar issue. Vibration from 30mph - 40mph especially with my gooseneck hooked up with a load. I had my tires rotated and balanced to start. Did not fix the problem. I got the truck up in the air now. The drive shaft bearing has a ton of play. I consider this a smoking gun. I will replace and report back.

This question never got answered. How much play can there be in the rubber bushing? I really have no symptoms, clunks or vibrations, but found this when I was under the truck for something else. Mine's a 2011 CCLB 6.2. I hate to mess with this and introduce new problems if this is ok as is. Thanks.
Haven't found any great threads describing removal and replacement of the carrier bearing on my year...
