"WATER IN FUEL" LIGHT ON, TEMP GUAGE MAXED OUT?
my '91 7.3 idi has been giving me a strange problem lately. a couple of minutes after i cut my heat on, my "water in fuel" light will come on, then shortly afterwards my temperature guage will max out, thus causing the "ENGINE" light to light up on the dash. when i turn my heat off, everything goes back to normal. i didnt notice any obvious signs of the engine actually overheating. any ideas?

The wires for all of those are in the bundle coming from the passenger side of the engine, along with the alternator wiring and tach wires. I would check that bundle out closely and see if there is something that has rubbed through. The temperature sender and the overtemp light are two different units, the overtemp unit is a bit lower and farther back on the drivers side of the engine on the head, the gauge sender is at the front of the head.
I've just recently had an overtemp switch go south on me in one of my trucks, but it's strange you're getting the water in fuel light at the same time.
