That's perfectly understandable Joe. I'm a working stiff myself and couldn't afford to just give a truck away either. But hopefully the next buyer will preserve it for the future. It would be a shame if some random yahoo got a hold of this rig and just drove it like another used truck.
I saw it happen to a mid 80s Ranger a few years ago. This thing was bought new by the father of a service member for a gift when his son returned from a deployment. His son was KIA and he couldn't come to sell the truck until just recently. It had been stored in a climate controlled garage and had 54 miles on it! 54! Needless to say it was mint. But because it was a lower end truck, and not that desirable to begin with, it was sold for next to nothing. Last I heard the buyer was driving it everyday like it was just another 80something throw away beater.
We're not talking about an 83 Civic or an 89 Camry. These are Ford Trucks, the greatest trucks ever made. Everybody in America has memories of these trucks. Even if it's the Chevy guys remembering when they had to yanked out of a mud hole by one or a Dodge guys that got smoked by one at the stoplight drags. Most of these trucks have worked their tails off their whole lives and the few that shifted though the cracks should be saved at this point. We all see what's going on in the world and this country. The America automobile is a thing of the past. We will never see this again and we need to save something for the future.
Again, I understand that you have to do what you have to do. But if you can, I ask you to ensure the next owner understands.

With those miles I would polish it up and ask at least $5000 maybe more depending on the options even though it is a 4x2. If it was a 4x4 unmolested and near mint you could get lots more. Hold out dont sell it cheap. Not to many low mile units out there. I have been offered 8K for my 96 with 29,000 miles and would not take it. It would be hard to replace. Would love to see yours. Bet its a nice one.
