oil leak in valley (center) on 2003 f350 7.3L

Just bought this truck - only has 70k miles on it - no leaks when i bought it - drove it home, small leak underneath - thought it was the pan or the rear main seal but found oil pooling in the center of the valley

culprits? never worked on anything concerning the oil system before except to change it so i'm new to this

thanks for any advice,
chris

Check the EBPV on the turbo pedistal as well as your IPR and ICP sensors. Also might be your HPO lines or a number of O-rings and plugs on the HPOP

I would clean the valley up real good.Get a inspection mirror and flashlight to find the leak. Let us know what you find.

Update:

Took me a couple of days but bought the inspection mirror and cleaned up the valley real good and all underneath the oil pan, etc..... and ran it down the road and came back and no visible leaks anywhere up top or down low with the truck running and me climbed up in it looking for about 10 minutes.

Had already bought air filter/oil/oil filter because the air filter light was on and i had reset it and it came right back on and the guy i bought it from...not sure he put the right oil in it or even had the money to change the filters properly, etc.

Changed the air filter out/oil/oil filter and the oil smelled burnt to me and way too thin...maybe not heavy duty oil at all and he went cheap before?!?!?

After changing out all those fluids...runs like a champ...no leaks...nothing in valley and nothing down low....seems like it just needed a little TLC

One more question -- noticed the steering wheel makes an odd "squeaking" sort of noise more so turning to the left than to the right at speeds less than 15 mph but turns with ease still....do i need to grease anything up in the column? any concerns? checked the power steering fluid and it looks clear but a little low so i topped it off

Thanks guys for the suggestions!

oh .. and the old air filter looked like a bird nest had flown thru the snorkel and lodged there -- no lie.... there were feathers, pieces of bark, pine straw, etc.....

thinking my moderate oil leak was two-folded problem -- 1. couldn't breathe b/c intake was about choked off AND 2. wrong oil

guessing intake and wrong oil could play problems with the HPOP/PCM/o-rings, etc....

I would keep checking on the oil leak. It is probably a slow leak. For the power steering I would change the fluid out. and make shore you get the right fluid its not the standard power steering fluid.
