Where to find Ospho in Kansas City Area

Does anyone know where to find Ospho rust converter in the Kansas City area? Or maybe Picklex 20 or Jasco prep and prime?

My local Sherwin Williams store orders it in for me. it's around 30.00 for a quart through them.

I stopped in Sherwin Williams near me earlier today and they were clueless. I've found it on Amazon for $15.20 per qt or a gallon form Jamestown Distributor for $50 including shipping. Ospho

I just want it now!

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, 77&79F250, that's great info from the website but you forgot the previous sentence that states, "Companies buy in bulk and distribute to their stores when the stores request Ospho." After calling and visiting many ACE hardware in the last few days I finally found an ACE hardware store that took the initiative to actually look it up and ordered it. they'll have 4 gallons in stock on Tuesday for $27 per gal at 95th and Mission.

and I did find Jasco products for sale at Lowe's but not the Prep & Prime.

I've called and visited 4 auto paint supply stores and none of them had ever heard of picklex 20.

It amazed me at how little the auto paint stores knew about rust treatment and understood the difference between Rust encapsulators and rust converts.

If you need any tech help on the OSPHO and its use in restoration, they have an expert you can email. He's helped me out a bunch with how to use it properly to remove rust and then topcoat it with epoxy. he's been using it for at least 25 years with no problems.

cyclopsblown34 Thanks for the info, when you used it how did you apply it? I've seen it done with squirt bottles, paint brushes and red Scotch bright pads. Tell me about your experiences.

I apply it in approximate one square foot sections with a brush and work it with a wire brush or wheel on a drill or grinder while still wet then wipe it off and let it dry. If there's any black spots the next day, I repeat the procedure til no more black spots show up, indicating the rust has been eliminated. On pitted rust, it usually takes a couple days to eliminate the rust on a typical ponycar roof.

Just prior to welding on or applying epoxy primer to a treated surface, I clean it with a dry scotchbrite pad. The dried OSPHO gives the surface some protection from rust until you remove it. Use a respirator with paint type filters when working the wet OSPHO. Use a dust mask or respirator when removing the dried OSPHO.

Hey,

I was doing a google search for Picklex in KC and saw your post. I ended up ordering a gallon since it's so much cheaper by the oz. I'll have more than I need and was sharing with a friend and would like to try and sell the rest. Would you be interested in some?

My name is Ryan, I can be reached at 913-375-2634 or husseyrj@gmail.com
