Lie-o-meter issues

As soon as I got into the Ex this morning, the lie-o-meter started in with some real nastiness. It just kept toggling back and forth with the two images below.

I couldn't figure out how to set it for 'Florida'!

Ice? I haven't seen that one before. This cold front is just unreal. I cannot wait for spring to get here.

I had mine show up with the "ICE" a few weeks ago....it was in the really low 30's @ ~ 5:30 a.m. Later in the morning, back to normal.. IIRC, that is a "Heads-Up" warning that shows. If I had my manual with me, I'd confirm and / or quote it.....

Forgot I had printed copy in vehicle, and it is my week to drive! The manual says "If the outside temperature falls below 3°C (38°F), the display will alternate from "ICE" to the outside temperature at a two second rate for one minute."

its actually very easy to fix. if you remove it and have soldering iron. there probably a bad soldering joint right under the lcd screen. i fixed mine. took longer to remove the console from the ex!

I have had it out a couple of times. Maybe once more for luck now that I have an idea where to look. Thanks.

there is....i think 3 rectangular resistors, one usually looks popped up that is usually the one. they are located right below the screen which you kinda have to bend outta the way to get to. I would take a picture but im at work.

I'll get in there and take a peek. Raining here so it will give me something to do for a bit.

From page 60 in the owners manual:
Outside air temperature
The temperature can be displayed in Centigrade or Fahrenheit by pressing the E/M control.
If the outside temperature falls below 3°C (38°F), the display will alternate from “ICE” to the outside temperature at a two second rate for one minute.

I just posted a new thread with a link to download my copy of the owners manual if anyone wants a .pdf of it.

If anyone has manuals from other years, let me know and I'll post the other model years as well.

Looks familiar here in Wisconsin. I see it every morning for about 5 months in a row.

Mine doesn't even light up this time of year, 10 this morning on the way to work. Tomorrow is going to be a balmy 23.

Likewise, mine is taking a break for the season... But when it works ice will indicate that the road is in danger of freezing if wet. I wish mine worked right now, I'd totally look at it and be like "ooh, it says ice".

Mine has yet to show any inclination of protecting me from this dangerous "ice" you speak of, even as I was driving through 28 degree weather with 2" of slush on I-68 through frostburg. It similarly failed to warn me about liquid's potential to turn solid this morning then it simply made me aware that it was NINE degrees outside. Its accomplice, the HVAC, did warn me that it was only twenty degrees inside.
