Fuel Filter

Is there a trick to removing the fuel filter on my truck? I have never dealt with braided push on ones like mine has. I can get it to push farther on when I pull the retaining clip, but not off. Is it just being stubborn. Truck is in sig.

You are using the fuel line remover tool im sure right? (just checking) IF you are and its still being a pain spray some wd 40 in the spring area let soak then try again takes a few tries... I have had to cut the old filter between the body and the connector then your able to pull the lines down to work on. Last resort tho....
Good luck

When using the disconnect tool, push the line toward the filter, then insert the tool, then pull.

Pushing the line on further toward the filter makes it easier to insert the tool and release the garter spring.

Thanks so much for the responses, I had no clue there was a tool to remove the lines. Hopefully it will be something you can rent from the local chain store. Or would that be what the plastic clips on the new filter are for. It is a Luber Finer filter.

There is not really any reason to rent them, the tool is less than 5 bucks.
