11 mpg Ecoboost Road trip- no trailer

Yea that's about what my 08 350 SD V 10 makes. They have about the same HP and torque. There are no free lunches! That's why I will not take the new 50.5 K FX4 with ecoboost I ordered on oct 20! I will go ahead and get a raptor with a real motor and more HP and torque, and about the same fuel economy! And not much difference in price. And raptors have a lot more cool factor thrown in for free!

id say something is very wrong with your wifes truck. i got 11 mpg driving up a grade in a 50 mph headwind. i do alot of in town driving, with a very heavy foot and it gets 14.7. i can get 18 mpg at 80 to 85 on the highway.
have your wife check the E brake.
take it to the dealer

but these do have a nice feature to keep that from happening. If you drive more than 3mph with the e-brake engaged, the warning chime shounds and the dispalay will show "parking brake engaged!" or something similar.
did it once it works
to the OP, it almost sounds as if the truck thinks it is seeing boost all the time and is dumping fuel to compensate. I agree with this guy ... take it to the dealer! something is likely very wrong.

Now that's funny! 12/16 is "about the same" as 15/21?
The annual fuel cost alone would average nearly $900/year at 15,000 miles each year. That's like comparing my 5.0L Mustang GT with a 2012 Focus!

If you read the fuel economy #'s that people are posting in real life, the Ecoboost is sucking. It ain't the wonder drug cure that everyone claims
Still, that is very low mileage.
Is your wife running E-85 because it's cheaper? That crap is pure swill and causes a 3-5 mpg reduction...and if I'm not mistaken, you aren't supposed to use it with the EB

I don't think anyone expected it to be the "wonder drug cure" or anything like it. But every time I go looking for this on FTE, including right now, I see lots of instances of people doing very well on gas with the EB. Some guys are claiming 20s at 75 MPH. Find me a 6.2L truck that can claim the same, or even close.

But I get the impression that some just had unrealistic expectations to begin with. Those probably would get lower than EPA numbers with any other engine as well, but with the EB the complaints are coming in.
I will see when I get mine. In the past, with all trucks I have owned, I have always been right in line with the EPA estimates (+/- half a mpg or so). I am curious to find out if it will be the same with the EB.

All I know is I just make sure I am at the speed limit when I hit the freeway, and then I set the cruise. I stay in the right lane unless I need to pass someone and usually I get pretty darn good MPG's in whatever I drive. The extra 5-10MPH doesn't get you there much faster, and at what cost? It's all a mental thing.
