F5 Brake Shoes & other parts...

Hi All,
I've been away for a while working on some other projects but my New years Resolution is to get Pancho, my 51 F5 Marmon-Herrington on the road this year. I'm trying to source parts and have a couple of questions:

1. Where can a find F5 brake shoes, Hi-Power Booster rebuild kit, wheel cylinders, etc.
2. Magic-Aire Heater &
3. I'm still looking for a set of wheels for this rig so if anyone has a lead...
And if you can think of any other F5 specific parts I'd appreciate a heads up.

Link to my flickr site

Cheers

you might find your brake parts at --joblot in queens, ny. if you have the shoes--most any brake reline shop can make them new. as for the rest, keep an eye out on for sale forums. i saw some heaters on ford barn/for sale forum. chucks trucks--truckdog--jmadsen all play with these big dogs. might be able to give a lead or two.

Welcome back, I love the look of that flatbed on there.

Not sure about rebuilding the booster, but I would inquire at a local big truck brake place to see if they can do it or have parts. or maybe even a new replacement?
for me I would try Page Brake, Page Brake | Locations
although I'm sure you want to keep your parts North of the Border?
they have helped me with my regular 52 F6 brakes stuff, Although I have not looked for any brake parts for my 53 MH yet.

If I remember correctly I believe your rear brakes are ford original but the fronts will be different MH specific?? Stu "Truckdog" or Chuck of Chucks Trucks LLC would know.

On the Magic Air heater Denny aka "firstrider" on here restores and sells the complete assembly, control, adn air tubes. beautiful ready to run heaters.
I also probably have an extra one in my parts pile but would have to double check availability as I need 2 of them for my F6 and my F1 assuming I ever get to putting them back together

I am assuming you want to replace the widow makers with good lockring wheels?
I Also assume you want to stay with the original type 20" wheels so you have options of using vintage or original style/type traction tread tires??

I have 8.25x20 tires on my 53 C600 MH right now but am going to swap these 9.00x20 tires since the other s are cracked. I wanted to use 8.25 traction but they are hard to find in an aggresive tread pattern.

my regular 52 F6 had 9.00x20's on the front when I got it and they slightly rubbed the fenders but with the MH lift I would assume they would clear ok, Also another Member on here run's 9.00x20's on an F6 MH? I think and they fit ok.

I have 3 extra 20" lockring wheels and have been seeing them around here (SLC Utah) regularly now for a while. Hopefully you can track some down close by. as shipping these things is expensive in the lower 48, not to mention going over the border...

keep us posted as you progress to get her on the road.

Please don't lump me in with Chuck as an expert on these trucks. I know only what he's told me, or what I've read. My F-3 M-Hs are also largely different than the big trucks. Chuck would be my first source to check with on parts. If he doesn't have it, he is a distributor for Job Lot and can get the parts and sell them for the same amount they charge. Stu

Josh - it's just that Chuck is the expert, and it'd be wrong to pretend to have anywhere near his level of knowledge on these trucks. But like the rest of us that have them I'm a student. And I'll take you up on the beer next time through. Stu

If you can't find a kit for linings, see if you can find a brake/clutch bonding place. They will fit linings to anything.
