Start the new job Monday - so I am busting my hump this week to get several things done on the truck before I have to focus on the job...

So, while there are only 2 pics - there was a lot going on today and yesterday.

The pictures do not show the flywheel on and the front and rear brakes have been put on....

The shocks and the exhaust crossover pipe are also on.

BUT - I cannot find springs for the front and rear shoes (the one that pulls them together) and I am missing my banjo screw for the rear brakes (the one which goes into the brass brake tube fitting into the back of the wheel cylinder).

I dropped off the clutch and pressure plate and they will be ready Friday so the trans will FINALLY be installed by this weekend - I will have the carb rebuilt and the brakes and drums will be completed this weekend as well. All of the radiator hoses will be put on also.

I will only have the exhaust to do (the pipe from the exhaust manifold to the muffler) - then find me some tires and this will be a 'driveable' frame...

Then we spend the rest of the time on bodywork!!

I want to have this thing fired up next weekend - as I need to make sure nothing is leaking and it runs like it should....

Ed, if you need those brake springs and such I have a rear axle out of a '49 F1 I'd be happy to give you if the parts will fit. The build is looking great by the way!!

It's looking great. When you have the driveable frame, you have to take it out for a spin. It's a blast and great motivation. Be sure to take a video of the experience for us.

I would LOVE to - but the truck is located inside of Phoenix and it might be an 'issue' having me drive around without a cab or such as the police would love to pull me over an ask a few questions!!

That is a very nice looking engine. It sure is nice to see a flathead put back the way Ford built it. One thing I noticed was the exhaust manifold, it looks like a pre-WW2 manifold. The 8BA truck manifolds are rounded instead of looking "flat" the side facing the block.

I had (2) sets of manifolds and they were both for the car engine - so when I went to my 'guy' and talked to him about truck manifolds - he had these and they fit spot on - so what year are they? I have no idea but they work and he had several sets and was sure they were truck manifolds... the year is a different story.

Spent the day doing 'parts runs' and stopped over at So-Cal in PHX:

For sale - $14,500. Clean truck with some minor body work needed. The guys let us climb in it / on it and check it out:

Picked up my refurbished clutch and pressure plate - they look like brand new, and was CHEAPER than what I could find on the net!

And then, it finally happened!!!

Was able to get the clutch and pressure plate onto the flywheel and then put the trans on and bolted it down!!

Tomorrow I will make sure all the motor mounts are lined up as well as the trans mount and then get the drive shaft finally connected.

The brakes will get done and I will get the carb rebuilt and installed. The hoses and pipes will get put on as the engine and the radiator will be in it's final alignment.

I will start my new job Monday so I will have to take a little break from the truck BUT I did get everything I wanted to get off the checklist finalized this weekend.

The next hurdle is tires and tubes - and to fire this baby up in a week or two...

Took a few hours today to get a few other things done.

Picked up the rear banjo bolts and attached them, and picked up the carb rebuild kit.

Installed the inner fender panels as I needed the radiator bracket to line up correctly so I can measure, cut and install the lower and upper hoses:

The lowers are in place and secured - the uppers will be done tomorrow.

I still have to line up the rear trans mount with the frame. This will entail loosening the front mounts - slide the engine forward 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch, and then bolt everything up.
I will then attach the drive shaft to the trans.

I also will attach the clutch and brake pedal linkage so I can start bleeding the brakes and getting the wheels ready for tires in the next few weeks....

Did your lower hoses end up being 7.5" long?
