I wasn't about to volunteer that I am doing a ton of research given that the experts I rely on (havi, mtflat, albuq, 4tl8ford, etc) all beat me to the punch answering this thread first.

I am by no means an expert, but I have started to write down what little I have learned. There are some real definite easy and common swaps I think in the F2+ series... which brings me to this answer:
since you identify as a F1 in the 2nd post.... WITHOUT cutting the stock crossmember there is no T98 that will work - they were big truck only, they work with the larger crossmember, not a T98, not a T98A, not a T18, not a T19 (all the same family) will fit a F1 with stock crossmember. If you are willing to fab or buy a 3rd party crossmember and shorten driveshaft then all those should fit and we have examples of members who did the T98, and T19 (no T98A or T18 that I know of).
Dick from Penn is one of the sharper cookies, he's got humor though and I think that is all his post was. He has done some trans swaps I believe (he's got a ton of posts about it) - like I said he's one of the smarties I rely on.

If you want to see what that T98 family looks like in a F1 behind a flathead, then HD74 has done a T19 behind a french flathead - he had to cut the stock crossmember.

Well Dick, at least he called you by name!

That decoder ring may be necessary 'cause I'm pretty sure Dick is done.

What's the big deal about using using a transmission that's been in a Jeep? It's my understanding the T-98 was used in a number of different makes...
