it is a one piece flywheel to replace the junk dual mass unit originally put in manual trans trucks
dual mas tends to fall apart, or slip very bad in higher gears. the clutch disc is still good, but the flywheel falls apart.
with the solid or as some call it single mass unit, it is just like a car clutch. a solid flywheel, and the clutch has the dampening springs in the disc, unlike the dual mass that has the dampening springs in the center section of the two piece flywheel.

The solid mass flywheel is just a regular flywheel. The stock one has springs in it. It can come apart and cause serious damage to the bell housing. The stock one is supposed to eliminate shaking in the clutch. The solid kit is more than half the price too. It also makes the pedal much easier to push.

About 15 years ago, a friend of mine built one of these cars. You could buy a kit from several different manufacturers. He chose one out of Massachusetts. His kit has the 4" tube frame just like the original Shelby's. Basically, with the kit, and an early to mid 80's Mustang for a donor car, you could build it with just those parts. The problem was, while it looked cool, there were several things that did not make it look like an original. Example, 4 wheel studs instead of 5, 14" wheels instead of 15" The rear end was too wide to put the original size wheels on it. What my friend did was buy a donor car to get some of the parts he needed. He shortened a 9" Ford rearend and put it under the back. Installed 5 lug hubs on the front end. Bought 15" Shelby wheels from Ford, as well as a 302 Crate motor rated at 320hp. He used the 5 speed out of the donor car. The driveshaft is about 8" long. You have to install loops around the axle so it doesn't travel too far and bind the U-joints, or pull the slip yolk out of the transmission. The side pipes on his car are fully functional. Many kit cars have them running out the back. One reason for that is people burn themselves getting out of the car if they aren't careful.
It is the only car I ever been in that you could grab the rear tire while sitting in the seats with the door closed.
His car is Ford Blue with white stripes.
