I think that looks pretty cool. Even though it looks "crappy" there is allot of cool good work there! I'd drive the hell out of it!
no i like them, im saying that every TV SHOW with a DBAG on it has one or is BUILDING one, being something that every hipster wants is a big turn off, once they are not coool i will build one.
Just think about the fab work that goes into those things. I mean they look like they are just thrown together, but they have to have a whole lot of work in them.
A few years back I was trying to get a 53 Olds 88 from a co-worker. He only wanted $1500 for it, and it had a nice patina to it. I was going to basically keep the body as-is, but somehow stuff a Dodge chassis with a 5.9 24v and six speed under it, and have some fun.
That craze sure drove up the price of a van back in the 70's, before that they were practically giving them away.
There was a huge industry in transforming plain Jane vans into conversion vans.
The Mark VII (and previous versions) were produced by a company just outside of Ocala, Florida. Originally, they were mostly custom builds. But they soon figured out he business, had templates for most everything, and could convert a stock van in about a day (+ paint time). I'm guessing that their shop had 1,000,000 sq feet under roof. It was common to drive down I-75 and see 200 to 300 vans sitting in the yard.
Sadly, that business dried up and Mark VII Industries folded several years ago.
