I know TJC. Thought that I would be polite. You've seen me more over with the idi guys. I enjoy looking at all the things over here. I don't have Facebook, so my two daughters and my lady call this my Facebook! Feel like a newbie over here!

It looks as though everything is there and the PO swears everything is there plus some. Debating repainting the entire thing or trying to match the paint job already sprayed on most of the car. I have the original paint (1/3 gallon left) but the paint job on the car now the base was sprayed way to heavy which gives it a weird effect I am unsure I can replicate on the rest. And because the base was to heavy on the car it looks a bit odd, not horrible but just different.

If it's just going to be a driver, I would go ahead and paint it now. But if you want to make it really nice, I would wait till you can get it inside and block sand it out under some eight foot fluorescent bulbs so you can spot imperfections before it is painted. Discouraging to have to start sanding on what you imagined to be "finish paint."

I am sure I will post along as I go. I am swamped with work so the car will sit for awhile so I can get other things done and catch up a little.

I have some time to think it over. The problem isn't to much the clear coat as that looks to be thick enough to be sanded and buffed and be all good. The problem is the guy sprayed the base to heavy which made the metal flake stand up and pile up some which gives it a weird looking effect. However it is consistent around the whole car like this so really it almost looks intentional and almost has a "hammered" look to it. If you used the rustoleum hammer paint you know what I mean.
I may just shoot one fender or the trunk lid or something just to see if I can replicate the look. If I can I may just shoot the two fenders, hood, and trunk lid how it is, sand and buff the clear and drive it.
If not, block out the whole car and she will get a whole job minus jams. Like I mentioned earlier the car is at the state where it wouldn't take much to strip off the couple trim pieces that they put on the car, tape it up and go to town. The body is strait and solid so no real body work needs to be done and if I do paint the whole thing I could throw something else in the base or clear to make it pop but still match the jams decent.
At least it runs and drives and from everything I see it looks like the mechanical maintenance was all done on the car already.
Either way it will be done and ready to drive for this coming summer.
