The blocks are forming blocks. You can purchase them. We mainly use them to keep from forming with wood. It can serve to not see the concrete. The rebar will be bent into the grout holes and all across the top. Like this one...

Carnage from my 360. All these rings were busted, had a wiped cam, and the loose wrist pin, hence the very deep gouge, and it still ran fine.

I only count 6 broken ones. Assume the other two were fine.

Gents, the cottage cheese was about the only good news in that whole deal! I'm going to be building a 401 for it starting this weekend though.

It was some OLD mortar too. They don't make it like that anymore! Plus mortar, anything concrete related for that matter, gets harder over the years. But the sds/chisel drill was VERY helpful!

i have found the best thing for walls like that is a 20 year old without too much brains, and a 15 lb sledgehammer.
then tell him we go to lunch as soon as that block wall is not blocking the doorway.

I've got my own construction project going on. It's nowhere near the scale that some of you have, but thought I'd share some before an after pcitures.

It started as a simple shower rebuild. The 30 year old tile was outdated and there were tell-tale signs of some water leaking around the step. Turned out there was wood rot through much of the floor and 2 walls, so the entire room came down to studs and was rebuilt a bit different than it was.

Enjoy...
~Bass

The walls are out of the shower. (Sorry, no truly "before" pic.)

And ohoh... Just as I feared, wood rot.

There's more damage than I had thought. That's a load-bearing (exterior) wall and 1/2 the step is gone.

The step and pan have been removed. At this point it looks like the entire bathroom needs to come apart.

This is the flooring under the step. Note the straight line of damage through the plywood.

So after tearing the room to studs and putting it back together, it's ready for tile.

The shower is now built. Note that the old shower was in the corner on the right hand wall and the new shower is across the back wall.

Next up, vanity (on order), the shower glass, and fixtures.

Know that one T! My co-worker and I did that with the whole wall inside two years ago! It went the length of the building. But we both tore into it!

That looks AMAZING bass! It's almost always worse than you think when you start in a bathroom. I had to do some major work on my dad's bathroom a awhile back. Floor, subfloor, bottom plate and one joist rotted! New tub/shower, toilet, vanity and 4' of sheetrock all the way around.

Thanks, guys.

The wife is anxious to get it done and move in. Looks like we won't quite make Christmas.

Here's the view of the last full moon coming up over the lake:
