tire sizes

Oh, and I am experimenting with pressure right now. I have Uniroyal Laredo LT225/75/16's - the manufacture says something obscene like 90psi max (most LT tires will be like this, where P tires will be like 50-60psi). I kinda like a little low pressure down around 30-32, as the trucks are pretty bouncy and that makes the ride a bit smoother. If I need to haul something, I can always juice em up to 45psi and take a load or a trailer.
If you really want guys, I can post a couple excel sheets that have makes/models to rob from (i.e. Toyota Rav 4 for the 215/75/16) and what sizes might actually exist along with average pricing from tire-rack.
[edit] - I even proofed this three times and still typed something dumb... all stupidity erased now :P

No it's all good information. I'm just blown away at how MUCH information you put into that. WOW Needless to say.....you did your homework.
BTW, the first set of tires I tried were 225/75/16's on the original 4 1/2" wide rims. That little experiment didn't work out too well. But probably is fine for your wider repop rims. The guy at the tire store told me to try them and then bring it back if they didn't work. We swapped them for the others I mentioned above.

Something else I discovered, and 52 merc told us before in an old thread... Different MFG put different tread depths... So a Goodyear which comes with 12/32 of tread and a Uniroyal which comes with 14/32 are not both 28.4" diameter, even though tire rack says a 225/70/16 is 28.4". Point short - don't aim for perfection, getting close is as good as you will get.
I'm pretty happy with my tires... I just really didn't want this 16" wide drag race looking thing or some 4" lift kit to clear the inner wells. I wanted it to look as close to stock as I could get.
I need to take a pic tonight after I (struggle to) get the moons on (without denting them).

What didn't you like about the 225/75/16's? (mostly for the OP's benefit... but since I have 225/75/16 and like em a heck of a lot more than the 15" from my PO)
On my 6" wide, the tire is still wider than the rim, so if you barely nudge a curb, you get tire rash, not rim rash... cream a curb hard and it will scratch everything (never done either yet to my baby)

I did say "researched to death" didn't I :P

Another alternative to end up in about the same place is to buy more modern (70's - 80's) 15" F-150 rims, which are 5.5"-wide with the modern safety bead but the same 5 @ 5.5" b.c., then use one of the most popular size tires of all time - 235/75-15. Diameter is about the same (28+), not too hard to steer, and Jeeps and trucks have been using them forever so there are tons of choices and reasonable prices. The only downside is they have "outie" nubs, so you can't use the stock hubcaps.

I have a set of 4, very "pretty" chome rattle can paint job thanks to the PO - complete with rollers - 5/32 decent tires. I only took em off cause I wanted the innie nub baby moons. (check out my pix if you really want to mess with the Colorado - hahaha, you can go to any junk yard and get em cheaper than the shipping / gas)
