does anybody have a good place to buy a gas fireplace? not looking for an insert, the house does not have any fireplace and i want to install a direct vent natural gas unit (the house is already running on city gas).

OK Ken, the Pats won the game, but Buffalo had them on their heels the 1st quarter. But when you get intercepted and then the opponent drives to score a touchdown each time, it makes it difficult to win.

Here is the link to their website that has all of the info. I have purchased two wood stoves from them. The first one could handle the heat output, but it was too small to hold an overnight burn which is what I needed and that is why we got the second one as it was the next size up. We burn wood 24/7 from mid November to the end of March.

i would love to have a wood stove, but the only open flue in the chimney would require me to install it in the kitchen (was used for an antique gas stove, probably a wood fired oven back in 1925 when house was built). also, the property we have doesnt have enough falling branches or trees to feed a stove, so we would have to buy wood. the house is already on natural gas so there is no cost involved in hooking it up, and the direct vent units are 80% or better for heat efficiency and require almost nothing to install. the house is a nice antique colonial....but it just doesnt feel right without a fireplace, especially with the rather large family room at 23'x12'.
thanks for the link!

I am in and out JR.
Aaron, I can fully understand where you are coming from. I have a log home that we built 11 years ago and IMO you can not have a log home without some type of open flame heat source in it. We have a Pacific Energy wood stove and just love it. My parents have burned wood since the late 70's up until this year. I burn around 12 face cord of wood a winter and a log load has a minimum of 15 on it. So I end up buying the wood and after 4 years I end up with a 'free' winter.
Here is a picture of our newer one burning away.

neil, thats a nice sized stove. is the cord for a blower, and do you use it? we never had a stove with a blower on it but i always wondered if it was worth it.
