Who knows what power steering fluid to use? I bought this van with 460 efi and AODE, and it is low on ps fluid. What do you use in this year? I have always used type F trans fluid in my older trucks (all in the 70's), but want to make sure I use the right stuff in this one.

Most pumps are very forgiving about what you use, I've even heard of people using motor oil in a bind. Personally I just use Dexron/Mercon ATF, it's identical or very similar to power steering fluid. Type F is probably fine, too. Basically, whatever you have lying around in old bottles should work LOL

All owners manuals as late as '93 specify Type F for PSF. Using the aftermarket "PSF"s will cause your seals to decay, since they have additives INTENDED to make the rubber soften & swell to try to seal any leaks. It actually CAUSES leaks if you don't have any, though.

Type F it is! I have lots of that around! Must be good stuff if Ford still uses it after all this time! Thanks for the help!
