tower in oil filter housing broken?

We have my truck torn down to do studs, egr delete, etc... I noticed that on top of the plastic tower in the center of my oil filter housing, there is a little "button", I guess you would call it, with a spring underneath it. It comes out completely if you pick up on it. The one on my friends truck doesn't come out. The both depress a little as they should but mine isn't secured if that makes sense... is this a problem?

I would change it IIRC its a oil bypass if the filter clogs and the pressure gets to high

you can get a new oil filter stand pipe from Ford cant remember the part# but they did have it in stock. I guess that stand pipe fits a few diffrent models

there not all the same BUT
when I was doing my oil cooler I droped that oil filter standpipe and it blew into 10 peices. I go to the dealer and he looks it up and brings it out and Im comparing them. And the newer one wasnt even close to what they had come with on an 03 the new one was way talller I thought this might not fit. He said that was the only part# to come up and a few diffrent ford models use the same one. so I took it and shure enough it worked.

So I would think any newer oil filter stand pipe would work for you. I beleive that they are reverse compatible but might not be forward compatible
