83 f150 axle swap for 250. leaf spring conversion

I am starting a project on my 1983 F150. I have 3/4 ton axles that I want to put on the truck. I also have a full 6 inch lift for it with leaf springs. I was wondering if anyone knows how to convert the coil over spring set to the leaf spring set up in the front end. I am not sure how to set up the hangers. Is there a kit I can buy or what is the best way to make hangers. Also any more advice would be helpful. I have never done anything like this before but am very mechanical.

It's what it looks like; Full custom fabbing of the leaf spring mounts bolting or welding them in place, with a lot of measuring to make sure it's square in the frame and centered in the wheel opening. You can do a search on the internet, maybe someone sells a kit, but I doubt it. It would be easier to find a junk f250 or 350, and get the frame and slip it under your f150 body. I guess though it's what you think is "easy". The f250/350 frame swap would be all bolt in, no figuring. And the frame swap would give you a stronger frame also.

P.S. I hope this is a straight dana 60 axle, the ttb type axles on the f250's won't fit correctly on the f150 frame, the center pivot brackets are in a different spot.

If this is an F250 it will be the D50 ttb. I am in the exact same spot you are in regards to this swap. I have an 85 F150 and the suspension off of an 88 F250. I want to put the F250 suspension on the F150 but the more research I do the more I think I will just try and find a frame from an F350 or F250 and put my body on that frame. The TTB is way more of a head ache then its worth and most of the off road people say there is no point to lifting it because it isnt made to be lifted especially not 6 inches. I have not been able to find a kit but if you do please post it up on here for the rest of us. Good luck with your swap if you decide to do it.

No factory truck is "made" to be lifted. The TTB can be lifted if done properly with the proper brackets. Some trucks are more easily lifted though.

In the old days of these trucks, the 4wd crowd was horrified with the ttb setup, and how more expensive and difficult it was to lift them compared to the old style straight axles. But look at the lift kits on the newer trucks. It's a fact of life now if you want to lift a newer truck, you have to spend a lot of money to get them lifted because most are ifs.

I got the axles and lift kit off a parts truck. The front axles is the TTB. How much off are the center mounting holes going to be. The 6 inch lift I have has the drop brackets for the center mounts. Will that help or am I total screwed? I would love to have a dana 60 in the front. But around here its like trying to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Thanks for your guys help.

Thats the problem I am having with trying to find the D60. The other option you have is to run the D44 which is a lighter than the D60 but much easier to mount up than the TTB. The D44 is a straight axle similar to the D60 making it much easier to mount up. You probably have everything you need to do the lift since its already on the parts truck. The problem you will have will be fabing up the TTB and trying to get it aligned properly so that it doesnt destroy your tires on a yearly basis.

Thats an awesome write up. I think I am going to have to try that with my spare parts. Maybe we can make it work albino.

If you notice in that thread, he is sticking with f250/350 trucks. 2wd f250/350 and 4wd f250/350. That's a lot different than what you are trying to do, which is mix and match f150 frames with f250/350 parts.
