Solid Axle

Hello, since im down to replacing the frame in my truck and the front end im using in the 93 needs alot of attention, new coil springs and tierod end and what not. but i have a 77 ford f150 frame that is rotten in the back, but the whole solid axle assembley is there. is everything a bolt on to the 89 f150 4x4 frame? if not how hard is it to transfer everything from one to another. thanks in advance for the help

what has to be modded to make the coiled front d44 solid axle fit under a late 80s f150 frame, or a early 90s. i have all the coiled d44 there so it should be worth it

im not sure about the half-ton specific stuff, but I know that on the 3/4 tons the springs don't line up. and you need to make a mount for a drag link. I had to make the tie rod that connects to the one on the axle as well.

77 will have a 33 inch wide frame, 79 and later have a 36 inch wide frame. so no, the 77 axles will not work with the 89 frame without re-engineering the spring perches

id be taking the spring buckets from the 77 if i could. Its not a leaf spring setup, its got the coil spring setup. its already got the disk brake setup in the front too. so ur telling me its not possible to do it with just making the drag link/trackbar mounts

IIRC you need at least 4" of lift for the Solid axle pumpkin to clear the 80-97 center engine cross member

great swap, that axle will work fine,

go search for SAS bronco swaps. you should get FSB . com and they have an entire forum just for doing this very swap. its about 80-90% bolt on but there is much to know and have on hand before going this route.
