Intermittent Wipers?

I'm planning to replace the wiper switch on my '78 F250. It has the standard 2 speed wipers. I see two switches are available from LMC truck. Standard and intermittent. Will the intermittent switch work with the standard 2 wiper motor?

Yes BUT if you want intermittent wipers you still need the governor. It is a small box that is part of the cable harness. Any intermittent switch will work in 2 speed mode but not intermittent without the governor. Easy to find at a good junkyard.

about halfway down on this page is a picture of the complete system. It isn't hard to do and these are available from a lot of trucks in the junkyards:

Thanks! I'll look for the governor first.

Very easy and a good upgrade. The governor plugs into the back of the wiper switch and then the wiring harness plugs into the governor. But you must use the delay specific switch. The switch rotates clockwise from the stop position like the standard switch. This activates the standard two speeds. From stop the delay switch will also rotate counter-clockwise, this activates the delay function. The more you rotate it the shorter the delay.
Also, be sure the switch is grounded or the delay function won't work.
Here's what the governor box looks like.

There are plenty of them for sale on e-bay. Just search 73-79 ford truck parts.

Ok may be a dumb question... I don't have delayed wipers on any of my trucks.
When I am searching through the junkyard how do I tell a truck has delayed wipers before I take off the instrument cluster bezel to reveal what is behind it. I assume the switch will have more than 2 clicks(positions) than the one I currently have?

79FordBlake,

I just pulled one yesterday at a You pull yard. On my 55' im running a 74 F100 with intermittent wipers using this control. What I did was look for the red/black connector then I followed it over to the black box. Then i started unbolting!!
