Changed Oil, and now I have problems.
I just changed my oil yesterday on my truck, see signature for specs, and I am having issues with it idling now, and even when I drive it. While coming home for lunch today, it seems like it is shift at higher rpms, and when it was in third gear it didnt shift until about 3300 rpms, and I was driving it lightely. Normally it will shift between 2000 to 2500 rpms when driving lightly. It was idling rough before I did the oil change, and now it seems worse. When I start it up it really is rough, and doesnt seem to run smooth like it use to. Anyone with some direction on this? I put 14 quartz in the oil spout. No smoke coming from the exhaust. Do I need to put oil directly in the oil filter housing? It went about 7000 miles since the last oil change. I use Rotella T 15-40 on it. Thanks.

just so you know non synthetic like that I usually change around 3000 miles
and my truck isnt a grocery getter it is worked so 3000 might be stretching it for me, I actually just switched to mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel full synthetic today.
but if your oil change spans have been similar to what you say since youve had the truck it might have taken its toll on some injectors, like I say though it MIGHT have
basically I'm not positive with whats wrong with your truck could be a number of things but make sure you keep on top of the change intervals, there are guys that wont even run full synthetic 7000 miles let alone dino rotella
wish you the best, sure someone will come along with more help
by the way the shifting issue reminds me of a throttle position sensor problem, maybe its just a fluke thing that happened when you changed the oil but has nothing to do with the oil/injection system

Yea you havent confirmed what truck you actually have. As for your issue, I have a simple check.... Check the Dipstick. Some people get in a rush and dont check to see where the oil lands. Of course, make sure your on level ground and the engine off. If you have to much oil, that might be your issue and its worth a check.

Okay, first off, i did do the trade, but the bank came back and said that the '97 was too old, so I was ready to buy that 460 '97, and as I said in that post "I was waiting for the banks final approval". I am in a financial strain right now. My dip stick reads in the middle, not too low and not too full. I replaced the o ring in the oil filter cap when I did the oil change, and its tightened nice and snug. I do not have the money to purchase a scan gauge. I am not in a situation to purchase anything that is pricey as I am probably going to have to give my trailer back to the bank as well. I did confirm what truck it was that I am working with as I said "see my signature". I appericate everyones help, buts doesnt anybody have any other ideas? Thanks again.

ur supposed to put in 15 quarts of oil. if u bought the motorcraft oil filter, then it should have come with the new o-ring. ur supposed to use tat. lube it wif new oil b4 putting it on, and ur supposed to torque it back on to 19 lb/ft of torque.
if u forgot to lube the new o-ring, tat may be a prob. if u accidentally nicked tat new o-ring while screwing it back on, tat could also be a prob.
you dont need to put oil into the oil filter housing, jus the oil filler area.
btw, u gotta use the motorcraft oil filter. anything else jus doesnt measure up.
hope this helps.
