1995 F250 TTB Dana 50 questions

Hello, My pops and i are working at restoring our trusty and rusty 1981 F250 to it's former glory ... and then some. This is the truck i drove in high school and college, it was our tow rig, our daily driver, i think i even drove it to my Prom. But after 600,000 miles, it needs some TLC.

Anyways, the truck has a TTB dana 44 in it, and we have a parts truck with a TTB Dana 50. I would very much like to swap in the Dana 50, and, from what i see, it's a bolt in issue. I'm planning on doing everything from the leaf springs down, this will also get me the newer style brake mountings, the heavier hubs and bearings, and will be a match to the 1995 rear i already swapped in. Anyone done this swap?

I know there's solid axle swaps out there ... i'm doing one on another truck already. Pops and i agreed we wanted to leave this one TTB ... long story.

^^Yeah. What Tom said. It should bolt right in as you have the complete set-up on the donor.

Plus I believe down the road you could easily swap to a solid 60 as your truck already have leafs up front.

I thought that the older frames are a different width than the '90s pickups? And that's why when swapping a D50 you have to find a D60 from an '86-'97 F350?

you have to look for a D-60 from a mid year 85 to a 96 F-350, because from 1980 to mid year 85 the F-350 only used an TTB front axle.
no solid axle 4 wheel drives in those years
