I'm installing a 360 in a 64 f100 4x4 I need to know which heater assembly hoses on the passenger side firewall go where on the motor the hoses on the motor go from the top of the water pump to a T one hose off of it isn't hooked to anything the other gos to the top fitting on the intake manifold then out the other side of that fitting into the carb spacer that has a coolant passage then the other side of the spacer has nothing hooked to it anyone help with how I should replumb this setup I'd appreciate it

 

One hose goes from the heater core to the pump and the other goes from the manifold to the heater core. Feel free to remove the waste of space heated carb spacer! I had one fail on me and hydrolock the engine. If the fitting in the manifold or the pump are rusted you can replace them with sections of hardware store iron pipe it works great and the heater hose makes a very secure connection once slid over the pipe.

 

How did the carb spacer fail and hydrolock the motor? Also any idea which heater core hose gos to the pump and what one to the manifold?

 

I'm looking at my 64 shop manual and it shows the hose from the top of the heater core attaches to the water pump and the lower hose to the intake. The picture also shows the the flow is from the intake thru the core and back to the water pump.

 

I just run the aluminum spacer under the carb to take the place of the phonalic spacer that is usually there. Just dont hook the heater lines up to it.

 

On my truck the heater core hoses are side by side not on top of each other. Good to know which way it flows so the hose on the water pump is the return hose and the intake is the one that feeds the core?

 

Peeps are forgetting something, you're swapping in an FE engine. There is no provision in the intake manifold for a heater water valve.

1965/66 F100/350: Spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose is either a manually operated shut-off valve (C5TZ-18495-A) or a cable controlled heater water valve (C3UZ-18495-A).

1967/72 F100/350: C3UZ-18495-A / 1973/76 F100/350: Vacuum controlled heater water valve, spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose (D4AZ-18495-A).

 

on the engine side right by the firewall there is a shut off valve attached to the one hose with a cable hooked to it running back into to cab

 

At one time, your truck had this: FDA-18495-A heater water valve-threaded into intake manifold.

Someone removed it, prolly because it was leaking, then spliced in the C3UZ-18495-A cable controlled heater water valve...that was not offered for F Series trucks until 1965.

 

Any idea which heater core hose connects to the pump and which to the intake manifold?

 

On my 65 with a 390, looking at the firewall from the front, the right one(closest to the motor) goes to the intake and the left one (closest to the fender) goes to the water pump.

 

Mr. Bill my 64 4x CC has a "fresh air heater" which has the cable operated valve on the right fender well. My 64 2x non CC has the valve mounted on the intake (even tho it's a swapped in 302). Wierd that it's listed on 65 and up, wonder...another old Ford mystery lol
