120in./lbs. convert to ft./lbs. ????
I am torquering under my covers and doing the 50cent mod and my in./lb torque wrench is 1/4in drive and my allen socket is 3/8 drive. I have a 3/8 female to 1/4 male adaptor but NOT a 1/4 female to 3/8 adaptor. And if I do I can't find it. And my 3/8 torque wrench is ft./lbs.So I am hoping someone has converted 120in/lbs to ft/lbs before if so please help. So I can retorque the injector hold down. THANKS

Sorry guys I think I found it
120in./lbs. = 10ft./lbs
How do you convert Ft lbs to In lbs
Does this sound right?? I don't always believe what I read on the web.

Yeah, I had a crappy torque wrench that did that to me one time. NOT fun. It quickly went in the trash.
That being said, the new one I have ( was well over 100 bucks) is 3/8 drive and goes down to like 8 lb-ft, but is actually accurate down that low.
Just be careful. Cheaper to go buy the adapter you need for your 1/4 drive wrench.

Thanks guys now I'm SCARED !! That and I can't actually find my 3/8 torque wrench and all I could find in ft/lbs is a 1/2 drive. So I think I'll see if I can't find the 1/4 adaptor or I'll just have to go to harbor frieght to see if I can find 1.
By the way I thought though the whole in/lbs to ft/lbs and I thought that I must be having a brain fart.. DaDa How many inchs are in a foot!
But thanks for the warning. Like you said + or - 3% on 10ft/lbs is alot. That is the claim on the torque wrench is. So No I am not going to trust the ft/lbs torque wrench.

If it's UNDER the valve cover, it gets torqued. If it's valve cover bolts, I'll just get them tight.
But I don't EVER want something either breaking off or coming loose inside my engine, so it all gets torqued down. I have 6 torque wrenches, and hundred of dollars invested in them. I already own them... it's not that big of a deal to get one out and torque something down.
But yeah- standard bolts on the outside of the engine I don't bother with. internal engine stuff and suspension stuff I do it religiously.

I'm about to hit 24 yrs in the Air Force and working on F-16's every nut, bolt & screw on the plane gets torqued and its not an option. So I agree to torquing them because i've seen things come loose from not being torqued and the damage it causes. I have about 20 torque wrenchs all in in/lbs any where from 5-30, 25-120, 100-750 to 500-2500 in/lbs so i'm always coverting to in/lbs to ft/lbs.

Well I too believe in using a torque wrench on almost engine parts. So I found my 3/8 torque wrench. Since I didn't really trust any of them other than the 1/4 in/lbs on with was calibrated last year. So what I did was cross calibrated all of them on the a bolt holding the a/c compressor on. Don't laugh. But I loosened the bolt and torqued it with my 1/4 in/lbs and then went back with the 3/8 and 1/2 torque wrench and was able to calibrated the 3/8 to 10ft/lbs but the 1/2 torque wrench wasn't even in the ball park at that low of a setting.
Well I still have one side to retorque since I spent 2 hrs messing with finding and calibrating torque wrenchs. OH YEA all injectors were loose and rocker were about a 1/4 turn out of spec.
Thank all for your input
