Anyone use a Mac Cold air intake? (Pic)

Just curious if anyone had any experience with this mod. If you noticed a difference. Wondering if I could just modify my airbox and use a k&N and get the same results

Go here for the pic

I've got the MAC on my 2000 "X". The only differenc I can tell is its louder. You can hear the air being sucked in. Makes that kind of bog sound when you hit it hard. I think modifying the stock airbox with a k&n filter will be just as good. Monsta has a how to/install on this mod. Do a search and also look for the zoo dad mod. I believe it helps too.

What kinda sucks?

Those MACs do look nice! The tube doesn't seem to be any larger in diameter but the chrome looks nice!

The poor man's FIPK would probably flow the same but not look at cool.

Poor man's FPIK

Curious....how is this a cold air intake? Looks like the filter is in the engine compartment, so moving hot air from the fan and engine would be mixed within this compartment....thus, not a true cold air intake from outside the engine compartment....??

If you add the Zoo-Dad mod(which brings in cooler air from the outside), it does help, IMHO.
