I wanna build something like the connectors of a scaffolding where the feet slide down a shaft then secured with pins. Something I can remove easily for hauling stuff. In order for the shafts to be out of the way incase I wanna haul something flat like drywall or materials on the floor, two indentations will have to be fabed in the floor to hold the shafts.

Here is something i drew to get a better Idea. The top design can be different. I just thru something together. But it need to have a mall window for better visibility and to reach over and pet Simba or give him a treat or something.

I was thinking if you made it center right on top of the front 3rd row seat brackets, then have an arm that goes to the aft brackets...you could keep the max room in the back, and still not bend forward. If you fab the mounts right, you could make it with no changes to the interior at all. Not to scale, but something like this:

If you can fashion some 'hooks' or the like to go around the floor seat mounts and make some type of angled support, you wouldn't need to tweak the truck at all.

The problem with that design is not being able to take it off when needed. The arch design with one piece of pipe will also help in the case of a rollover. I really don't mind tweaking some aslong as it's safe and I can remove it in under 1 minute. 2 pins and it's out, put it on the roof rack when not in use.

Sure you can...make the rear 'hooks' fasten with the pin or a wing nut/bolt design. Lower the front seats, remove the rear hooks, tilt it forward to release the front hooks and slide it out the back...or make both front and rear hooks fasten with a pin/bolt...then just slide it directly in. The drawing is a rough idea...if you put pins in the 45 degree supports and where the hooks fasten to the divider, it can collapse flat and slide right out.

...or just make it like your original design, but make the mount plate stay in the truck...bolted to the seat mounts, then pull the pins and out it comes with the mount plate remaining in the truck flat (so you can put your cargo on top without it obstructing.

Just fiddle around in the rear with some flat plate aluminum or even strips of cardboard to get your dimensions and angles down. Should be an easy build - might take a little longer if you are new at welding, but it should be easy in general (not a lot of crazy compound angles or anything).

I wanna make something that looks nice and is functional. Im sure I'll be fabricating for a while. Once i get my welder and calculate the right dimensions on everything including the thickness of the pipes and sheet metal I should be ready to roll. One more thing to add to the list.

Nice to meet you Simba... Fitting vehicle for such a large dog. I don't think that pic would look right if you had a civic..

Got Simba in the cage, put his bed in there and a few chew toys and went to the lake. I was gonna take him to the doggy park but came across pit bull brick wall. Im not sure if it's all of Broward but Sunrise has an ordinance for pit bulls and they cant be in the dog park without a muzzle or leash. This law was signed in 1989 and I think it's discrimination. These dogs were once called nanny dogs for their gentleness with kids. The media and bad irresponsible owners has really gave pits a bad rep. We decided to park the Ex by the lake and have some play time. Had to watch out for alligators but only saw a large wild iguana.

A combination really, of bad press and bad owners. The owners for not properly socializing the dogs and training them correctly, and the press for only focusing on Pit Bull attacks and not really publicizing all of the other breeds that bite.

When you have a dog that powerful with that much bite strength, yes, the wounds can be worse than other dogs, but wounds none the less.

I can't tell you how many GOOD owners I've seen with Pits that were beyond well behaved...none of those make the news though.

Also...had another thought on that cage...is it big enough where it covers all 4 tie downs? If it did, for a temporary fix, you could get those round "screw links" you can get at Home Depot or Lowes in the truck section...just loop them through the rings on the floor and the cage wires, and that should keep it from sliding around while you drive.

I've been reading all your follow up to the original post. One thing is for certain, you are incredibly intelligent and crafty to say the least. The barrier drawing was awesome, nice design for such short notice.

Thanks, the ideas really came from the advice from a few of the members here brain storming dividers and designs. I tend to get a little creative when explaining stuff with design implementation. Everybody has a creative bug. Some just don't use it much.. This design is not final but I plan on building it as soon as I get a mig welder and I check where the base would go. Need to know if I even have clearance to even do that.
