Anybody bought one of those cheap Ebay grill shells?

I was wondering if the quality is total crap, or if it is ok. I know that for $203.40 and free shipping I should not expect much, they list the brand as "Prozone" I bought a cheap one years ago for my 77 and it was just ok, the corners were poorly formed and it was not straight where it was folded.
I figure this one is about the same.
Here is the item #360381792533

Thanks.

I can't say I've ever bought a new one. I've been lucky enough to find nice ones in the junk yard.

Fitz,

I think there was a thread some time ago about grille shells from LMC (or another aftermarket supplier) who not only talked about how great they were, but described them as being "stainless steel".

Someone on that thread bought one and it wasn't stainless steel (what a surprise!) it was aluminum (like the originals), but the aluminum was much thinner than the originals. Needless to say they were disappointed.

I personally try and stay away from all the aftermarket sheet metal and trim parts. I have never seen a single part that matches the oem quality, despite all the claims to the contrary.

If it's not one of the $500 high-quality shells, it will be as thin as a soda can. There is one manufacturing house in China that stamps the soda can grills, and sells them wholesale to all these online vendors.

RE: Dentside Grill Shells

Dear Mr. Claus:

Please accept this post as a request for a reputable company to make molds out of 73-79 OEM grill shells and reproduce new grill shells in ABS plastic or fiberglass.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
The FTE Dentsiders

From Santa: I have two 79 grilles left. These are complete with trim and lights as the yard torched the fenders off. Name a fair price and cover shipping and thier yours. Ps. I might keep one for my sleigh.

I need a 73-77 style, I will probably have to settle with the cheap thin one as my budget is not up to the more expensive ones, I have many other areas of the truck that also need new parts.
