Dana 60 axle Help!

Is there supposed to be a gasket or seal on the axle where the axle goes into the axle shaft? It is a Dana 60 off of a 95 f 350. My axle shaft is full of dirt. Bad?

i like to get in there with the hose and get the grit outta there with my solid axle trucks.

especially if you go beastin through mud a lot, its a good idea to get as much dirt off the seals as possible. this will keep them alive longer. not to mention mud caked up mud just holds moisture and promotes rot.

Yeah I will be cleaning out the axle with the hose and degreaser soon I tried to put the axle shaft back through the axle tube with out getting mud on it but I'm sure some got on the gear teeth but it will be geting torn back apart soon to put the detroit locker in it. I want to find a gasket seal that will fit on the outside of the axle shaft to keep the dirt out. Any ideas?
