Got my window sticker today - and a quick question

My window sticker (which finally was online today) shows "MYKEY" in the safety / security section. Does anybody know what that is?

Thanks!

oh, thanks!
Sounds like a good thing to have, as the wife will be driving the truck every once in a while!

With MyKey, you are able to set certain driving parameters for different drivers. For instance, if your kid was allowed to drive your truck, you could use the MyKey feature to limit his/her speed.

I don't know all the features involved as I haven't programmed mine yet.

If you have your VIN, you can look up your window sticker by using this link:

Yes, if you have your VIN, you should be able to view your window sticker by now. My build date is 1/9/2012, so yours should be up as well. Replace "your VIN goes here" with your VIN, and remove the quotes.

Try this:

Thanks Tim!
Wow, that sounds even better. I can limit my wife to 30mph then. LOL.

Oh, that's just wrong.

Here's a better idea of what MyKey is: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...W7OSSpg8KmGrFA

According to that, it does not have a memory feature for the seat / pedals. Hmmm, that would have been more useful for me, no teens driving here (yet), and not for a while.
But regardless, it says "limit the speed to 80mph"??? I am sure parents would like to set it lower. What is 80mph all about?
Not that I am complaining, just saying.

check out page 137 for more details.

its kinda neat. features can be turned on and off at the owner's discretion, but you limit the speed to 80, and set warning tones at 45mph up to 75.
you can make it so the traction control cannot be turned off (stops burnouts)
limits radio volume to 45%
mutes the radio when the seatbelt reminder chimes.
tracks miles driven while 'mykey' is in use.

everything your average teenager would despise.
i'd give it to the wife once and a while just for fun (oops .. sorry dear, i had no idea ... cheap entertainment)

edit..
i should add, depending on your state 80mph isnt that out of line. our interstate speed limit is 75mph. also, if they were to decide to pass a car on a two lane road, you'd hate to have it limited too low and they cant make it around. a lack of experience could cause them to make a bad decision worse, at least at 80 they might get around and not cause a wreck ... makes some sense anyway.

Good points, a speed limiter could be an iffy thing to set, making sure not to regret it later.
But what in this world gave me this MYKEY? I did not select it. Do all of them have it?

Congrats on finally getting your sticker. A little while longer and you'll be a happy 2012 owner.
MyKey is standard on your truck and mine. Don't have access to the order guide right now so I can't say for sure, but probably standard above a certain trim level.

Just checked the 2012 order guide and MyKey is standard on the STX and above.
