Aftermarket Tow mirrors. Do you have them?

I have those car like "bullet" style mirrors on my truck and they're almost pointless. They are power adjustable though. I want to add a set of tow mirrors and have seen some on ebay (or as I call it "Fleabay") and was wondering if anyone has used those and how they worked out. Amazon also has some too.

What's the wiring differences between the different ones, some are power extendable and some are heated? Is the wiring already in the truck and you can use those options or will you have to add a switch?

If you've switched, who'd you use and how'd they work out? Ebay and Amazon wants about 200.00. But i don't recognize any of the brands.

CoolVue is a good brand. If it were me I would get the OEM style mirrors.

I had a set of softer markets for 4 years, only complaint was that the glass in the mirror would vibrant slightly sometimes on the highway and my dads stock ones didn't. Other then that they worked great. They were power and heated. I have since upgraded to a set of OEM king ranch mirrors with the turn signals in them. For wiring if that is your truck in your avatar if you have power mirrors in your truck that will be plug and play if you order a set they normally come with wiring adapters for the different plugs over the years. Or you can just splice the wiring together. I am pretty sure that 99-04 trucks never had a power folding option, but I could be wrong. The newer trucks do. You also could wire that to work depending on how good at wiring you are with wiring. After having both OEM and aftermarket even though the aftermarket did me well if I had to start over I would have just went with OEM for the quality factor. If you decide on aftermarket check out www.discountautomirror.com, that's where I bought mine.

I was just looking at them for a friend. They have an excellent selection, including kits to make the new '08> style work on the older trucks without modification.

I sold my 2008 a few months ago and the best thing about that truck was the mirrors. I'll be installing a set of 2008 mirrors on my 2001 when it goes back on the road. The large blind spot mirrors were the best part.

I just bought a set of '02 heated mirrors with signals to replace the ones on my '99. Try am-autoparts.com they were cheaper than the ebay stuff, and am claims all their stuff is oem quality. I haven't opened mine yet so can't comment on that.

Another member/friend recently put a set of tow mirrors from Certifit Online on his 99 F250.
They look to be good quality, Actually I think they look better than OEM, but only time will tell.

I bought the CHEAPEST mirrors that were on ebay. I think I paid like $120 shipped for a set of manual mirrors. I think the brand was "BestInAuto". They look amazing, they work great, they do vibrate a little bit on really bumpy roads but they are good enough for me. My only gripe is that the big mirror on the passenger side is NOT a convex mirror, its just a standard mirror. Maybe this is a towing thing?? But I hate it!!

Great suggestions guys.

As soon as I recover from the holidays it's one of my top priorities. I'll throw the bullet style ones on ebay to recoup some money to pay for the new mirrors.

opened up my new mirrors from am-autoparts and they are really good quality, I'm very happy. Should find some time to install them in a couple weeks, I'll update with opinions then.

Not a bad price, but why not upgrade to the heated ones with signals?

Did any of you get your mirrors installed? What brand did you end up with and are you happy with them? Did you end up selling old mirrors? Thanks.
